From ocean explorers to luxury superyachts, Abeking & Rasmussen can launch yachts of up to 125-meters in length, complete with the utmost comfort and extraordinary cruise experience.
Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard was founded in 1907 by Henry Rasmussen and Georg Abeking, on the banks of the Weser River in Lemwerder. Once a renowned skipper, Rasmussen also proved to be a talented yacht designer, creating a name for himself in the racing community for his 12-meter yachts. Under his direction, the shipyard curated a portfolio in the private and commercial sectors, producing wooden sailing and motor yachts, high-speed patrol boats, and other specialized vessels.
Under the direction of Rasmussen’s grandson, Hermann Schaedla, who ran the yard for five decades beginning in 1959, Abeking & Rasmussen began to establish a reputation for technical innovation, pioneering the use of lighter materials for hull construction and developing better sound-dampening systems. Today, this innovative approach remains central to the German yacht builder.
Between 1938 and 1966, the German shipyard built 99 Concordia sailing yachts, which are still sailing today. However, Abeking & Rasmussen’s last sailing yacht, 4K (formerly Alithia), was constructed in 2002, making way for a flourishing motor yacht segment. In 2009, Hermann Schaedla handed over the reins to his son, Hans, where the shipyard continued to focus on the highly specialized motor yacht market sector.
Today, the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard retain the essential know-how and valuable ideas, not only about particular yacht projects but across multiple yachting disciplines, production series and processes.
As well as custom-designed yachts, expedition and support vessels, Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard specialize in servicing, maintenance, repairs and refitting services to optimize your enjoyment and give you the utmost peace of mind on board.
